By Ramona du Houx The public is generally unaware of the tragic loss of editorial cartoonists in America during the past decade. There are only about a dozen left employed on newspapers- across the entire USA. Maine is incredibly fortunate to have Danby. Our political parties wouldn’t have become known as Elephants for the Republican and donkeys for the Democrats […]

Last year was a challenging year for local bookstores. Bath Book Shop and Reading Corner Bookstore in Rockland are closing in 2015, and Maine Coast Book Shop in Damariscotta is for sale. All […]

Takafumi Suzuki is holding a photographic exhibit of his images of the World Trade Center Twin Towers of New York City. “Now, when I visit New York City there is a void where the Twin Towers once graced the skyline. While the city has put up an inspired memorial and a new World Trade Center to replace the lost towers I still look for those familiar buildings, I still expect to see them,” said Takafumi. Suzuki is a professor at Nihon University in Tokyo and studied as a graduate student in the 1980’s in New York City. While living in the city he took many photographs. When the devastating tragedy of the 911 terrorists attacks occurred he, as millions of […]

In order to highlight artists and writers with Maine connections I created this website/blog, INSIGHTS. For many creative people in the state finding a way to gain more exposure to a wider audience is still dependent upon being able to garner the attention of the media. INSIGHTS lets the public know more about these artists and writers and how they can obtain unique works of these artisans and writers, when their exhibits will be held, and how to contact them. Every month we host a new exhibit. To view and learn more about the work of showcased artists in the gallery go here. INSIGHTS offers professional services in writing, public relations, photography, publishing, and design. To learn more about INSIGHTS […]
