Entries are now being accepted for 1st annual Winterfest Snow Sculpting Competition, Maine’s only nationally-sanctioned snow sculpture event and a signature feature of Camden Winterfest. The competition takes place the first weekend of the festival which runs from January 31 to February 8, culminating with the 25th annual US National Toboggan Championships.
This year, teams of snow sculptors will begin work on Saturday, January 31 and their creations will be judged following day. The winners will represent the State of Maine in the 2016 U.S. National Snow Sculpting Championship Competition in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Sculptors will receive free lodging for Friday and Saturday evening of the competition, and meals will be provided on Saturday.
The sculptures will be displayed at the Village Green and the Camden Public Library Amphitheater. The town’s local ski area, the Camden Snow Bowl, will be providing additional snow should the need arise. Online registration is now open. To be considered, teams must submit three photos of previous work along with the registration form.
