A Native American flutist will perform an enchanting, all-ages show at the Unity College Center for the Performing Arts in June.

Gareth Laffely is a gifted 17-year-old Native American flute sensation, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, and producer who has enjoyed a tremendous run since the release of his debut album, “The Journey,” in 2013.

Laffely will take the UCCPA stage on Friday, June 12. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show. Tickets are $10, $6 for children younger than 16, and $25 for a family, with an artist’s reception to be held after the show.

A 2014 Native American Music Association Rising Star Award recipient, two-time NAMMY Award nominee and four-time Indian Summer Music Award nominee, Laffely has been capturing fan excitement with his music and live performances across the United States and Canada, and several on-air radio appearances, including a masterful performance on Music City Roots in Nashville, have only helped to solidify his popularity.

Laffely, of Gallatin, Tenn., is Mi’kmaq/Cree descent whose parents and grandparents hail from Maine. He is completely self-taught on the Native American flute and combines rock, pop, and world music into a revolutionary style all his own. His musical vision combines the spiritual and healing influences of the Native American flute with the edge of Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull.

Native American flutes crafted by local artisan Tony Francis will be on display in the gallery during the performance.
