Entry Form

Artists are invited to submit work for jurying into the River Arts “Down on the Farm” Exhibition.   Artists are encouraged to submit up to 3 works in any medium and that deals with farm life:  inhabitants, equipment, landscape, architecture, etc.   The work can be delivered anytime the gallery is open, but no later than May 24^th  at 4:00 pm.   The exhibition will run May 30 – June 19 with an opening reception May 30th 5-7pm.

The juror for the exhibition is  Kerstin Engman who exhibits at the Arden Gallery, Boston, and the Courthouse Gallery, Ellsworth, among other venues.

She received her MFA from University of Pennsylvania, where she studied with Neil Welliver, and her BFA from Maine College of Art, with additional study at Rhode Island School of Design. Engman brings a rich and broad career in painting, drawing, sculpture and digital media to the juror’s role. In her work she explores varied visions, media, materials and genres. In 1997 she became founder and director of Project Kalocsa, a cultural exchange between Hungary and the USA. She has also worked in arts education in Maine schools and in several New England colleges, including Maine College of Art, and is presently on the faculty of University of Maine. www.kerstinengman.com

All work entered must be for sale. Wall-hung work  size maximum: 60 inches in height, 42 inches in width – and for safety reasons plexiglass or other non-glass option should be used for work over 34 inches, excluding pastels. Early submissions are accepted within usual gallery hours. Artists may submit up to three works for an entry fee of $15 for members, $20 for non-members. Artists will be notified by email or phone of the juror’s decision. Submissions may not have been shown at River Arts previously. River Arts holds 10 themed, open, juried exhibitions per year—with some of Maine’s most prominent art community members as jurors.  Over 600 different Maine artists have exhibited in these shows.  The gallery program creates opportunity for artists to have their work selected, participate in the gallery process and sell their work.  Over 7,000 people visited the gallery and participated in events and workshops last year.

The mission of River Arts is to nurture and encourage participation in the arts throughout the region of Midcoast Maine by providing exhibition, studio and performance spaces, classes and workshops, for people of all ages and abilities and support a wide range of activities in artistic disciplines by partnering with other arts and performance organizations to produce program.
